Position Summary

Under direct supervision the Chiropractor is responsible for serving as Chiropractor to the Washoe Tribal Health Center in its efforts to provide general Chiropractic care to Indian patients and to provide medical services at the Washoe Tribal Health Center in Gardnerville, Nevada. Provide guidance and participate in continuous quality improvement. Participate in efforts to maintain accreditation. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited U.S. Chiropractic Program/School and active licensure from any state within the United States, professional ability, as determined by college transcripts and references.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid California or Nevada driver’s license or capable of obtaining one within thirty-days (30) of employment.

  • Must be able to be insurable by the Tribe’s Driving Policy.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.

  • Preference will be given to Qualified Native American Indians.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides general Chiropractic services consistent with education and training within the scope of work and ability of our staff and facility.

  • Complies with applicable Federal, State and Tribal laws, codes and regulations.

  • Works with all medical staff and will provide supervision to the Nursing, CHR, and Behavioral Health Staff, as related to the day-to-day activities of the Medical Department and in the provision of quality Chiropractic care to our patients, both Native and Non-Native American Patients.

  • Works with all medical staff and assists in providing x-ray services, assists in taking and reading x-rays, and assists in training an x-ray technician, if applicable.

  • Works with the behavior health staff and pain management team in the development and implementation of pain management strategies.

  • Participates in all aspects of the Quality Improvement program including: patient(s), visitor(s), and employee(s) environment health and safety, infection control, security, disaster program, employee health and any other programs which reflects on the quality of care delivered by WTHC.

  • Assists in all related areas to secure and maintain AAAHC accreditation through a nationally recognized health care accrediting organization.

  • Assists in securing related licensing and additional licensing as needed.

  • Contributes to the team effort by participating in the WTHC facility and community wide program improvements, goals and standards.

  • Maintains any required continuing medical education requirements.

  • Serves on the Washoe Tribal Health Center Service Medical Staff Committee.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.

  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.

  • Knowledge of records management procedures.

  • Knowledge of a Tribal community clinical setting or demonstrates the ability to be sensitive to and work with American Indians.

  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and regulations including established professional standards.

  • Knowledge of principles, theory, methods, and equipment involved in the practice of chiropractic therapy.

  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the skeletal, muscular, neural, and other systems of the body.

  • Knowledge of the practices of other disciplines related to chiropractic therapy.

  • Ability to instruct patients and members of the hospital staff in chiropractic care.

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and other personnel.

  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner, building respect and confidence.

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to operate a motor vehicle; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
