Position Summary

Under direct supervision the Computer Systems Administrator is responsible for all day-to-day operations of servers, workstations, peripheral devices, telecommunication and data communication equipment, to include planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network, hardware, and communication connectivity and operation. This role also analyzes and resolves end user issues in a timely and accurate fashion and provides end-user training and support where required. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a computer related field desired and minimum of four years of increasingly responsible experience in network design and management, or combination of education and experience.

  • Must possess a valid California or Nevada driver’s license at time of employment. Must be able to be insurable by the Tribe’s Driving Policy.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.

  • Preference will be given to Qualified Native American Indians.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Designs, implements, tests, and documents all areas pertaining to operating systems, databases, networks, servers, and software applications.

  • Analyzes system or application usage and planning for growth or increases in network capacity.

  • Conducts research and provides recommendations on emerging products, services, protocols, and software.

  • Interacts and negotiates with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software, hardware, or services.

  • Performs network audits.

  • Prepares and delivers daily, weekly, and/or monthly status reports to supervisor.

  • Possesses ability to be committed to superior customer service and able to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, methods, procedures and automated systems.

  • Knowledge of general goals and purpose of Washoe Native TANF Program and services.

  • Knowledge of the following: Microsoft Windows 2008 Server environments and protocols, including installation, implementation, administration and support of Active Directory and Group Policy Objects; Windows desktop client operating systems and open systems databases such as Microsoft SQL, Sybase SQL and Microsoft Access.

  • Knowledge of the TCP/IP suite of protocols and implementation and support of TCP/IP networks and inter-networks, which support client/server applications.

  • Knowledge of telecommunications; LAN/WAN administration, Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010.

  • Knowledge of the issues involved in managing TCP/IP on LANs for client/server as well as for WAN communications.

  • Knowledge of and experience with telecommunications; LAN/WAN administration; and Microsoft Office 2010, DNS, DHCP, WINS and other common network protocols utilizing TCP/IP in a Windows Active Directory infrastructure.

  • Knowledge in supervising vendors and contractors engaged in developing and/or implementing systems or networks, supporting users on production systems or networks, and working directly with users and other as needed.

  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people effectively and to perform tasks as directed by management.

  • Ability to work with a diverse culture, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Skill in oral and written communication.

Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
