Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing data services for the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to assigned projects. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in data management or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Tribal, non-profit, and/or public health service experience is a plus

  • Preference given to qualified Washoe Tribal members and Native Americans.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Engage in community outreach and be comfortable speaking publicly during events.

  • Prepare and conduct meetings and presentations effectively.

  • Co-develop and implement a data system (collection and reporting).

  • Utilize and train others on cultural and evidence-based instruments and techniques.

  • Co-develop and implement a data monitoring system (routine analysis on project process and outcome data) within a private, shared drive utilizing Excel or other.

  • Responsible for providing correct and time-sensitive data required for specific grant reporting.

  • Positively represent the Tribal Health with tribal members and professionals.

  • Provide routine analysis and progress updates regarding project process and outcome data with Health clinical and prevention teams, community members, and other involved agencies.

  • Adhere to all healthcare standards as related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

  • Perform other duties required for the position.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications
  • Knowledge of Washoe and American Indian/Alaska Native People and their history.

  • Knowledge of records management procedures and use of electronic health records systems.

  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and regulations including established professional standards.

  • Knowledge of community resources related to health issues a plus.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology a plus.

  • Ability to analyze problems, devise solutions, and make sound decisions.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative/effective work relationships with participants, partners, professionals, and the public (especially American Indian/Alaska Natives)

  • Ability to plan, organize, and express ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to represent the organization professionally, building respect and confidence.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; occasionally is required to operate a motor vehicle; stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment
  • Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.

  • The Washoe Tribe of Nevada & California requires a background check of each new hire for employment purposes. Therefore, all conditionally offered positions will be subject to the following:

  • Obtain or possess a valid driver’s license for either the State of Nevada or California within 30 days
