Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Diagnostic Imaging Manager leads, coordinates and performs as needed all activities of the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in radiologic sciences or related field with 3 years of clinical experience minimum.

  • Certification through professional organizations such as the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required

  • Certification in Computed Tomography is required.

  • Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversees and performs imaging studies using some or all imaging modalities of the Diagnostic Imaging Department including x-ray, ultrasound, MRI, and CT as needed for the ambulatory/Primary Care/Urgent Care level of service.

  • Evaluates accuracy and quality of images and provides technical assistance to staff.

  • Demonstrates and instructs as to techniques, equipment, and procedures to staff.

  • Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff.

  • Ensures compliance and reporting with regulatory agencies.

  • Reviews work schedules and assigns duties to maintain patient flow

  • Achieves production goals in conjunction with the Executive Director and CMO.

  • Ensures retention and maintenance of Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) status

  • Develops and implements plans, policies, and procedures regarding operations and staffing

  • Maintains stock of imaging supplies through approved purchasing pathways

  • Develops and maintains annual department budget

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications
  • Knowledge of current safety standards and ability to ensure these are met by the department.

  • Knowledge of ideal patient experience protocols and continuous improvement of these.

  • Knowledge of operation of multiple radiology modalities to ensure operation of the department if acting alone, such as x-ray and ultrasound or x-Ray and CT imaging

  • Knowledge of the functions and structure of the Washoe Tribe.

  • Ability to facilitate timely communication with providers and other staff.

  • Ability to submit imaging data to regulatory and accreditation agencies (such as the American College of Radiology).

  • Ability to maintain credentials and licenses as appropriate to perform duties.

  • Ability to obtain Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) designation.

  • Ability to deal courteously, effectively, and tactfully with tribal health patients.

  • Ability to create and track budgets.

  • Ability to acquire proficiency for other imaging modalities as needed promptly.

  • Ability to guide the proper operations of the department’s equipment (CT, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, etc.) and master new systems as acquired.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.

  • Ability to represent the organization professionally, building respect and confidence.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.

  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines in a Windows environment, specifically Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Skill with Electronic Medical or Health Record software systems and patient charting.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA and how it pertains to the medical record.

Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; occasionally is required to operate a motor vehicle; stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment
  • Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.
