Position Summary
Under direct supervision the Retail Store Clerk is responsible first and foremost, to meet the needs of the customer. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.-
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience;

Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.

Preference will be given to Qualified Native American Indians.

Operates cash register.

Performs stocking or cleaning duties

Shares in the responsibility of maintaining the store, inside and out, for customers.

Responsible for safeguarding the company’s assets unless physical safety is in jeopardy.

Follows company policies with regard to cash control, proper safe operation.

Follows correct vendor check-in procedures.

Completes all end of shift procedures.

Pays immediate attention to any spills or other hazardous condition.

Ensures that displays always include proper pricing and correct signage. Merchandise should always be fronted; particular attention should be paid to the cooler doors (dairy, beer and other cold drinks).

Performs other duties as required.

Ability to check identification.

Ability to read and understand instructions for operating Point of sale system, gas consoles, and other equipment.

Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing with staff and the general public.

Ability to be personable, responsive, caring, knowledgeable and flexible with all customers.

Skill in money handling, basic mathematics, and the ability to complete shift reports, and account for a variety of products during vendor check-in.

Ability to obtain a food handlers card.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, carrying cases of soft drinks, beer and juice, etc. Physically capable of stocking shelves and coolers, including entering and working in cooler at temperature of 36 for up to 30 minutes.

Work is generally performed in a retail store environment. Some locations are a 24 hour operation, weekends and/or holiday work may be required.
